Race @ 50th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix
Si è da poco conclusa la gara del cinquantesimo anniversario di corse motociclistiche su Macau, con un podio tutto all'insegna della casa bavarese, con i tre piloti racchiusi in poco più di mezzo secondo. Questo fa capire per quanto riguarda il podio di come sia stata una gara combattuta fino alla fine viaggiando letteralmente sul filo dei 300km/h ed oltre.
Per il team Bimota UK va senz'altro registrata la bella prova del portoghese Andre Pires, mentre una prova un po' deludente per il navigato Ben Wylie.

pre Macau GP
Il Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee ha rilasciato l’entry list provvisoria della 50esima edizione del Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix in agenda al mitico Circuito da Guia dal 17 al 19 novembre prossimi. Complessivamente sono 28 i piloti iscritti tra star affermate delle corse su strada (e non solo), 5 dei quali già con vittorie all’attivo nella gara che chiude la stagione delle corse su strada.
Nei 12 giri di gara in programma sabato 19 novembre alle 15:30 locali cercherà di difendere lo storico successo conquistato lo scorso anno Peter Hickman, questa volta con i colori di GBmoto Kawasaki, medesima struttura con la quale milita nel British Superbike e nelle principali road races. A mettere i bastoni fra le ruote a ‘Hicky‘ ci penseranno due pluri-vincitori al Guia Circuit come il ‘Re‘ di Macau Michael Rutter (8 successi) e Stuart Easton (4 vittorie), entrambi schierati dal team Bathams SMT Racing in sella a BMW S1000RR.
Tra gli ex-vincitori non mancherà all’appello Ian Hutchinson, in trionfo nel 2013 con Milwaukee Yamaha, questa volta ai nastri di partenza con Tyco BMW. Non poteva mancare nemmeno il leggendario John McGuinness che vinse nel 2001 e proverà il bis con la Fireblade di Honda Racing affiancato da Conor Cummins.
Regolarmente presente un altro atteso protagonista (e più volte a podio a Macau) come Martin Jessopp su Riders Motorcycles BMW, sempre dal BSB debutterà Glenn Irwin schierato direttamente dal Paul Bird Motorsport in sella ad una Ducati Panigale R non dissimile dalla moto con la quale prende abitualmente parte al British Superbike.
Confermata la presenza anche di Dan Kneen (Yamaha Mar-Train), Ivan Lintin (Kawasaki RC Express) e Horst Saiger (con la propria Kawasaki), da monitorare l’impegno di Mark Miller con la EBR 1190RS schierata ufficialmente dal team Splitlath mentre Bimota UK sarà presente con ben due BB3 affidate a Ben Wylie ed Andre Pires. Tra i potenziali protagonisti confermato l’impegno di Gary Johnson con Penz13 BMW, compagine di Rico Penzkofer che porterà al debutto a Macau anche Danny Webb, pilota dai recenti trascorsi nel Mondiale Moto3 e da diversi anni impegnato anche al TT.

mi sentivo bene durante la gara ma sfortunatamente non sono riuscito ad ottenere il risultato che avrei voluto. Ho avuto una partenza discreta e ho pensato di poter stare con il gruppo che mi precedeva, ma non sono riuscito a farcela. Gara solitaria tutta da solo nelle retrovie, ma ho portato a casa la pellaccia ! Decisamente deluso delle mie prestazioni dopo aver colto ottimi risultati alla Northwest200 e all’Isola di Man quest’anno. Queste sono le gare, avolte sono molto difficili.Un grandissimo ringraziamento a tutto il team Bimota e specialmente ai meccanici Erik Van Groningen Alan Jones e Andy Ballard per il loro duro lavoro. Avrei voluto ottenere un altro risultato. Congratulazioni al mio compagno di squadra Ben Wyilie per il suo superbo 19mo posto e per i suoi giri veloci. Ed inoltre congratulazioni al vincitore Peter John Hickman.Ci vediamo nel 2016 !

E’ passato il Gp di Macao, mi è piaciuta tantissimo la gara e ho corso bene come non facevo da tempo. Il team ha migliorato la moto in ogni sessione che ho svolto, ho corso in maniera impeccabile e ho migliorato i tempi durante la gara anche se mi aspettavo di dover ancora imparare dall’ultima volta. Abbiamo un ottimo team che ci supporta, non vedo l’ora di ritornare il prossimo anno! Il prossimo appuntamento è il Motorcycle Live con Bimota.
Macau Grand Prix Race Report
I felt good going into the race but unfortunately just couldn’t put it together. Had a decent start and thought I could hang with the group in front of me running :33’s-:34’s…just couldn’t make it happen. Lonely race on my own in the back but brought it home safe and sound. Guess that counts for somethin..?Definitely disappointed in my performance after having such a good Northwest 200 and Isle of Man TT this year…that’s the way it goes sometimes though! Massive thanks to my whole Bimota team especially my mechanics Erik Van Groningen Alan Jones and Andy Ballard for their hard work. Wish I could’ve given you guys a better result. Congrats to my teammate Ben Wylie for his superb 19th place and great lap times. Also massive congrats to race winner and all around good guy Peter John Hickman Roll on 2016!

Macau GP done. Loved the race and rode harder than I have in a while. The team improved the bike every time I rode it, ran consistent times getting faster during the race which I expected still learning the place after last time
We have a brilliant team behind us now, can wait til next year! Next is Motorcycle live with Bimota!
